TCA Chemical Peel Treatment

What is a TCA Chemical Peel?

A TCA Chemical Peel is a tailored treatment to remove top layers of damaged skin. The process will reveal a new healthier layer and work towards banishing skin problems. The TCA peel is more intense than our normal chemical peel with greater peeling of the skin, targeting more specific skin concerns.

How does a TCA Chemical Peel work?

before and after advanced chemical peel

The facial peel works by removing the top layer of damaged skin.  A solution of Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) is applied to the face with a dosage specifically created for your skin condition. The top layer of skin will begin to shred as soon as the treatment is over and will continue doing this for the following week.

Who can use a TCA Chemical Peel?

Those with specific skin conditions will see the best results and please note that you will only be able to have a TCA as a model if you have previously had other types of chemical skin peels. This is because the TCA is particularly strong and we need to see how your skin has reacted to previous weaker peels before treating you with a TCA.

You may be suitable for a TCA peel if you have the following skin conditions:

  • Strong hyperpigmentation
  • Strong photo-ageing
  • Sun damage
  • Acne or chicken pox scarring

You will also need to be a Fitzpatrick skin type of 1 or 2…

“What is Fitzpatrick Skin Type?”

The Fitzpatrick scale was developed in 1975 by a man called  Thomas B Fitzpatrick, it gives the ability to tell a skin tone on a scale created by the response of different skin tones to UV light.

Fitzpatrick 1: Always burns, never tans (pale complexion, blonde or red hair with blue eyes and freckles)

Fitzpatrick 2: Usually burns, tans minimally (peach or pale complexion, blonde or red hair with blue, green or hazel eyes)

If you are unsure of your skin type or whether you would be suitable for this treatment, please register your interest with us and one of our practitioners will arrange a time to discuss the treatment with you and determine your suitability. They will also need to arrange to see photos of you prior to booking an appointment.

What is the cost of the treatment?

The cost of one TCA peel is £90 which is a considerable saving on normal high street costs for a TCA.
