Leg Thread Vein Removal

Thread veins are small red/purple veins which are commonly seen on either the face or legs. At Cosmetic Courses we offer a treatment for these visible veins called microsclerotherapy. The treatment we offer is specifically for the veins found on the legs rather than the face. It is a simple and fairly quick procedure which uses the injection of a product called Sclerovein into the visible veins. This solution effectively causes the walls of the vein to stick together reducing the blood flow through the vein. Over time this causes the vein to be less pronounced.

Expected Results from Thread Vein Removal

This treatment will cause bruising but this usually subsides after approximately 2 weeks. Don’t be alarmed if the veins actually appear worse than before your treatment as the bruising will make them darker than they were previously. This will disappear when the bruising goes down.

Some patients find results even after just one treatment. If you have quite a large area of these veins then multiple thread vein removal treatments may be required but this can be discussed with the supervising practitioner Dr Asif Hussein and the trainee. You will be required to wear compression stockings for a few days following treatment in order to get the best results.

Cost of Leg Thread Vein Removal

The cost of this treatment at Cosmetic Courses is £70 which is an approximate saving of £180 per treatment, compared to high street prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

This procedure only treats surface thread veins; it does not treat varicose veins. Before the procedure you will need to send in a photo to be approved by the trainer for the procedure.
If you have many veins that need treating or the treatment area is quite large, you may need more than one treatment. Some veins may require repeat treatments for optimum results, however the procedure is usually very successful. Regular exercise and staying healthy should help maintain the results of the treatment.
The treatment itself usually takes up to 30 minutes.
Not a lot of preparation is required before the treatment. We do advise that you avoid shaving your legs for 24 hours before the treatment, and do not moisturize your legs on the day of the appointment. You will need compression stockings for after your treatment, we recommend buying these from either boots or M&S and they must be grade 3.
They treatment is likely to cause bruising, however after 2 weeks this should calm down. We recommend allowing two weeks after any treatment before going on holiday or any special occasion. There may be slight swelling or redness about the area of treatment, walking will help ease this, however strenuous activity should be avoided for the first couple of days, and long periods of standing should be avoided when not wearing the compression stockings.
