HArmonyCa Treatment - A brand new hybrid injectable Article

We are delighted to introduce HArmonyCa, Allergan Aesthetics’s first dual-effect product as a new treatment. The HArmonyCa treatment combines two active ingredients, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA) in one injection to support the lower face area. This dual-effect hybrid injectable provides an immediate lift from Hyaluronic Acid, a natural substance found within us which causes us to look plump and youthful when we are young. The Calcium Hydroxyapatite provides a sustained lifting effect from the gradual collagen stimulation and therefore has longer-lasting results.

The HAmonyCa treatment is injected into the mid and lower face (cheek and jaw). Categorised as a biostimulator, it is formulated for facial soft tissue augmentation via injection into deep dermal and sub-dermal layers of the skin with the intention to provide an immediate lifting effect combined with a sustained lifting effect whilst helping to stimulate collagen. As we age, our body starts producing less collagen which reduces the volume behind our skin. Re-introducing the Hyaluronic Acid and Calcium Hydroxyapatite using the hybrid injectable HArmonyCa treatment can help you boost and support the body’s collagen production whilst improving your skin architecture, enhancing and sculpting the face. This treatment also improves the texture of the skin.

Some precautions to follow with the HAmonyCa treatment would be:

  • Need to leave 4 weeks pre or post HArmonyCA for any other Aesthetic Treatments
  • More invasive treatments such as RF/Morpheus would need to wait 6 months
  • No other Biostimulators (Ellanse Radiesse, Sculptra) for 12 months
  • Cannot have Threads before or after for 12 months

Following the procedure, there may be some slight tenderness and very occasionally there may be some bruising at the injection site, however these symptoms will dissipate quickly. You may experience swelling for a short period of time after the procedure. We recommend that any vigorous activity or exercise is avoided for the first 24-48 hours following the procedure. Results will be seen immediately post-treatment with a lift although the stimulating results will be seen from approximately 3 months after treatment. These results can last until approximately 12-18 months because of the gradual collagen stimulation. This is a great treatment if you are looking to combat the signs of loss of volume or poor soft-tissue structural support through ageing.

Have you ever thought about lip filler? Maybe you want to add more volume, definition or to help fix asymmetry?

Become a Cosmetic Courses Aesthetic Model to receive highly discounted treatment administered by medical professionals across our award-winning UK aesthetic clinics.

Lip Filler Treatment

Lip filler is a treatment where dermal filler is injected into the lip area to add volume and definition. Lots of patients think lip filler is a one size fits all treatment and everyone will come out with large swollen looking lips. This is not the case, not with us. Each patient is treated individually and holistically, meaning we look at the whole face and create lips that compliment your features. Some of the most life changing results can be from the smallest amounts of dermal filler, if placed correctly.

What is dermal filler?

Dermal filler is made up of Hyaluronic Acid, something which we already have in our bodies. As we start to age it begins to break down and our own bodies’ supply starts to go down. Dermal filler injections reintroduce Hyaluronic Acid back into the body to help add volume and definition.

Does the treatment hurt?

Every patient has a different pain threshold, what one can find painless another can find painful. Although we do believe that lip filler treatment does not hurt as much as you may think it does! We use Juvederm for our dermal filler which already contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, so the only discomfort will be a slight scratch when the needle enters the skin.

Discounted Lip Filler

At Cosmetic Courses we offer Lip Filler treatment as an aesthetic model for a highly discounted rate, a compromise on cost, never on quality. We train thousands of medical professionals a year in the art of lip fillers. To aid their training we ask for patients to come in as models and have the treatment for a highly reduced rate as they will be in a training setting. Our medical students are overseen and led by our expert faculty and each model patient receives the same high level of care as all of our patients.

Lip Filler Near Me

We have clinics across the UK which offers Lip Filler as an aesthetic model, every week for reduced cost.

What to expect at your lip filler appointment

Your medical practitioner will discuss your medical history and expectations from the treatment. Once you are both happy they will continue their facial assessment and plan where the product will be placed for optimum results. The treatment itself will take about 30-45 minutes but this can differ depending on where you are having the dermal filler treatment. Once you have had your treatment you will be slightly red and there will also be some swelling which will subside a couple of days after treatment. True results will be seen approximately 2 weeks post-treatment.

How to book your lip filler appointment:

To book an appointment you will first need to speak to an advisor you can contact the team directly on 01844 390110 / [email protected] or you can fill out our model enquiry form here for us to contact you!

The Aesthetics Knowledge Hub is a great place for you to find answers to frequently asked questions. We recommend having a look at the Lip Filler Training Knowledge Hub.

Dermaplaning, Hollywoods worst kept secret. A go to in the a-list, this treatment is said to exfoliate the skin, leaving it radiant whilst also eliminating peach fuzz (those little hairs on your face that you see in the light). The tool used? A surgical scalpel. Yes, really. When it comes to dermaplaning treatment there’s a lot of questions, so we are here to answer them!

Three things to know about this new facial treatment offered in our clinics:

How does it work?

This exfoliating treatment removes the dead cells on the skins surface using a surgical scalpel. At the same time, eliminating all the hair that is there. The complexion is immediately boosted and regains radiance. How? The accumulation of dead cells is the cause of dull complexion and pimples (clogged pores and blocked hair follicles).

What are the results?

These are quite impressive – and visible right away! At first, you will notice some redness here and there and your skin may seem a little dry, but the side effects of this treatment are really minimal. So much so that it’s perfectly possible to book a dermaplaning session at lunch and be back in the office – about 40 minutes later – with an ultra glowy complexion. Only one must: apply sunscreen! After the treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun’s rays.

How long does this last?

The results will be visible for several weeks. Dermaplaning will eliminate dead cells that have been accumulated for more than three weeks, which means that a month of purified skin will follow. If you like to take care of your face (just like us), then you will like it: the fact of eliminating dead cells will allow the beauty products used daily to penetrate deeper into the epidermis and therefore to be better absorbed and more effectively. The skin becomes smooth and makeup glides evenly.

When it comes to skincare its hard to understand just what your skin needs. Met with millions of different creams, lotions and potions we are on the hunt to find the perfect products for us! The first step in finding your ideal skincare routine is understanding your skin type and we are here to help you do just that.

When we look at the anatomy of the skin, we notice that its surface is covered with a slight film, this is a mixture of sweat and sebum.

Sebum forms a protective film on the surface of the skin, which prevents water from evaporating and helps fight against germs.

Sweat eliminates heat in the first place, but it is also responsible for skin hydration and balance.

The quantity and quality of the skins film determine the skin type, varying on age and health, climate, pollution and personal hygiene.

The Different Types of Skin

There are four main types of skin: normal, dry, oily, and combination when it comes to understanding your skin type.

Normal skin: the ideal skin type

Neither too oily nor too dry, normal skin is comfortable, does not shine, does not tug, does not blush at sudden changes in temperature. It is often the result of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Normal skin needs fewer products.

Dry skin

Dry skin can be confused with dehydrated skin but both are very different in what they need! Dry skin lacks sebum (that thing we spoke about at the beginning), which not having enough of will cause water to evaporate from the skin, thus causing dry skin. Therefore we need to nourish the skin before hydrating.

Oily skin

Oily skin is caused by an excess of sebum, the opposite of dry skin! You can tell oily skin by the skin glossing, enlarged pores, blackheads and dullness. You skin can be oily for a variety of reasons, including pollution and using the wrong products.

Combination Skin

Combination skin is a mixture of two skin types and is characterized by:

  • oily skin on the middle zone, or T zone
  • normal or dry skin on the cheeks.

With combination skin you will find you may need to try different types of products for each area.

So, how do we determine our skin type?

There are a number of ways we can determine our skin type from magnifying mirrors to purpose built machines, one which you can easily do at home would be the tissue test.

  1. Take off your makeup
  2. Clean the skin with soap and water
  3. Wait 30 minutes until the glands have worked hard enough
  4. Place a tissue on the face, like a mask, and press lightly for about ten seconds
  5. Remove the handkerchief and observe in the light

Result of the test:

  • There are traces of oil (transparencies in the light) all over the tissue: you probably have oily skin
  • There are traces of oil only in the middle zone (forehead, nose, chin): you probably have mixed skin
  • There is no trace on the tissue: you have normal skin or dry skin

Please note the above technique may give you an idea of your skin type but we would still recommend coming for a skin consultation at one of our clinics where our skin experts can talk through what your skin needs and build you a bespoke treatment and skincare plan.

We consume it daily, whether on purpose or not, helping us to stay healthy and boost our immune systems but did you know the benefits Vitamin C has for the skin?

As an active energizer, it’s a key player in skincare as it helps with cell renewal, leaving your skin glowing with brightening and antioxidant action.

Vitamin C will start to show its results within a few weeks of adding it into your skincare routine, it’s used to prevent aging, reduce wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and spots. Promoting better healing of the epidermis and limits skin inflammations.  A great addition alongside your aesthetic treatments.

The best way to introduce it into your skincare routine is to use a facial cream enriched with moisturizing agents, such as oils. Serums have a higher dose and can contain upto 5 to 15% pure vitamin C. You can mix your serum with your day cream and apply it in the evening or morning!

To brighten the eyes you can also use a Vitamin C eye cream to help address crow’s feet or dark circles.

We also recommend that you space your application to avoid harming the skin, applying your Vitamin C products 2-3 times a week will help with this.

Our top tip: store your vitamin C care in your fridge – when you apply it, the cool consistency will help to tighten your skin!

At the end of 2018 we introduced a brand new course to the Cosmetic Courses, Rederm- The Injectable Skincare. Offering the latest in skincare and injectables combined into a results driven anti-ageing treatment.

Redermalization ™ is a non-surgical procedure harnessing the power of Succinate and Hyaluronic acid. Both components are physiological (prevalent in human tissue) making the product hypoallergenic, safe and very effective. The product is injected to stimulate collagen & elastin and reject pigmentation to achieve youthful healthy looks without going under the knife.

Redermalization guarantees skin protection by minimizing damage from infammatory and oxidizing agents as well as preventing against chronic inflammation and slowing down endogenous protein destruction due to its high molecular mass of sodium hyaluronate (2.5 mln DA). Also correcting premature signs of ageing and helping to eliminate hyperpigmentation.

The treatment can be used in different ways to combat a variety of age related concerns:

  • Dark circles around the eyes
  • Crêpe like skin
  • Fine lines & wrinkles on the face, neck, and decolletage
  • Face & Body skin laxity
  • Skin hydration
  • Photo ageing
  • Treatment of scars and stretch marks

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • Sodium Hyaluronate
  • Sodium Succinate
  • Succinic Acid

What is the downtime after Rederm treatment?

Downtime varies between patients, on average this is 2-3 days, raised red bumps under the skin may be visible for up to 72 hours although this can be covered with makeup.

Where can Rederm treat?

Around the eyes, neck, full face, décolletage and backs of hand.

What is the differences between Rederm & Profilho?

Whilst both rejuvenating treatments, Rederm is injected to specific areas rather than fixed points. The ingredients also differ between products with Rederm using hyaluronic acid to boost results and succinic acid to help treat pigment.

How much is the cost of Rederm as a Cosmetic Courses model?

Around the eyes £125 per treatment or £300 for a course of 3. Face neck, décolletage and backs of hands £150 or £375 for a course of 3.

2018 Love Island contestant Alexandra Cane has made the headlines recently over her invasive skin treatment. Many of her 1.2M Instagram followers were shocked when she took to her Instagram stories to reveal the recovery process of the invasive procedure showing a red and “scabby” face. The reality star had chosen to undergo a Co2 Laser Facial after years of Impetigo, which had left scarring on her face.

Alexandra did not hide what she had done but instead decided to take her followers along with her throughout the process so they could understand why she had the procedure, what the procedure is and the downtime that comes with it along with the fantastic results at the end.

During mid recovery she said “This is the current state of my skin, it looks quite bloody. It’s starting to scab over now but all is good according to my consultant. Hopefully in a few days all of this scabbing should start peeling off. The sorest part is my eyes, but the rest of my skin feels pretty good” adding “This is how my skin is meant to look at the moment, please don’t worry, all is fine.”

So, what is the Co2 Laser Facial?

Co2 Laser Facial is an advanced, results driven skin rejuvenation treatment which treats skin problems such as fine lines, pigmentation and acne scarring through laser resurfacing.

The laser beams target the problem area causing trauma to the skin which stimulates the body’s own healing process in turn producing a natural source of collagen resulting in refreshed, glowing skin. With the problems areas minimised if not completely eradicated. A topical numbing cream is applied to the area of treatment and once the skin is numbed the lasers use beams of thermal energy to penetrate deep into the skin treating skin conditions which over the counter creams can’t.

The treatment costs around £3000 to receive and should only be administered by a trained professional due to its intensity along with the prolonged aftercare requirements.

Other alternatives to laser resurfacing?

As the laser treatment carries quite a big price tag there are alternative less invasive treatments which patients may prefer:

Chemical Skin Peel – A chemical skin peel is a clinical grade skin rejuvenating treatment used to target a number of skin conditions such as black head removal, oil congestion, dry, flaky skin, dull, dehydrated skin & pigmentation
If you just want a rejuvenating and anti-ageing effect then this will be a perfect treatment. The Neostrata skin peel works by penetrating into the epidermis reaching a deeper point than any home skincare products. This coupled with the microdermabrasion treatment unblocks pores leaving you with immediately clearer and brighter skin.
Cosmetic Courses price for treatment: £70 per treatment

Microneedling – If you suffer from fine lines, acne scarring or pigmentation then you may benefit from a Microneedling treatment. Using tiny needles on a roller or an electronic device over the skin causing pin point bleeding is creating on the skin. This ‘trauma’ causes stimulation of your natural collagen which will refresh and rejuvenate the appearance of your skin. Again patients will experience best results with a course of treatment and skincare.
Cosmetic Courses price for treatment: starting from £125 per treatment

“I need Botox, I look too old”

Did you know that sometimes it’s not the one treatment that can help you reach the ideal look you are looking for; a combination of treatments can achieve fantastic results instead. The ageing face unfortunately does not stay to one area; it affects the whole surface in different ways.

By using a combination of treatments and having a holistic approach to the face, the practitioner can address all of these areas which together will give a fantastic youthful effect.

For example, “I look too old”. Botox injections can relax the muscles on the forehead to help to avoid any unwanted wrinkles, but if we were also to include dermal filler injections on the lower part of the face, around the mouth and/or jaw and cheek we will be lifting the face up resulting in a youthful glow.

beauty triangle

In medical terms, beauty is described by a triangle. An upside down triangle represents the perfect proportions that we have when we are younger, as we grow older the triangle then flips.  Volume loss and Muscular Hyperactivity are two major components of the ageing process that together contribute to the formation of wrinkles.

By just adding Botox injections to the upper face we will not be focusing on the face as whole, which will not provide the maximum results achievable.

Combination Appointment at Cosmetic Courses

At Cosmetic Courses we have a thorough understanding of the ageing process, it’s what we teach our delegates in our courses.

We want you to get the most out of your appointments with us which is why we have developed our combination days. Not only does it teach our delegates how to understand the face as a whole but it also leaves you walking out the door with a natural balanced result!

On our combination days we cover all facial Botox & dermal filler injections, these appointments are available in our Buckinghamshire & Nottingham clinic.

  • Upper Face Botox
  • Lower Face Botox
